01Who we are
WasteLogic Ltd is a New Zealand owned company providing commercial waste and recycling collection in Auckland. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “WasteLogic” mean WasteLogic Ltd.
This policy explains how we handle personal information collected through wastelogic.nz, through enquiries and quotes, and in the course of servicing your site. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020.
02What we collect
Information you give us directly, when you request a quote, become a customer or contact us:
- Your name, business name and role.
- Email address and phone number.
- Site address and access details, including gate codes or bin locations where you provide them.
- The streams and volumes you need collected, and anything else you tell us in a message.
- Billing contact and account details.
Information we generate while providing the service: collection dates, weights per stream, contamination notes, and photographs taken by our crews where a bin is contaminated, overloaded or inaccessible.
Information collected automatically when you visit the site: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, and the site you arrived from. This comes from cookies and analytics, described in section 04.
03Why we collect it
We use personal information to prepare quotes, provide and schedule collections, invoice you, produce your monthly weight reports, send service notices such as holiday schedule changes, answer your enquiries, improve the site and our service, and meet our legal and regulatory obligations.
We will only send you marketing about our own services, and only where you have opted in or are an existing customer. Every marketing email carries an unsubscribe link.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for other organisations’ advertising.
04Cookies and analytics
Essential cookies make the site work — remembering form progress and security state. These cannot be switched off without breaking the site.
Analytics cookies help us understand which pages are useful and where visitors drop off. They are set only if you accept them, and you can decline or clear them at any time in your browser settings.
We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles.
05Who we share it with
We share personal information only where it is needed to run the service:
- Our CRM and enquiry system, HubSpot, which receives quote requests and holds customer contact records.
- Website hosting and analytics providers.
- Subcontracted transport operators, and the licensed recycling and disposal facilities that receive your material.
- Our accountants, auditors and professional advisers.
- Government agencies, regulators or courts, where the law requires it.
Every provider is bound to use the information only for the purpose we supply it for, and to keep it confidential and secure.
06Where it is stored
Most information is stored in New Zealand or Australia. Some of our providers, including HubSpot, store data in the United States and other countries.
Before information leaves New Zealand we satisfy ourselves that the receiving provider is required to protect it with safeguards comparable to those in the Privacy Act 2020.
07How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not become customers are kept for 24 months, then deleted.
Customer records, invoices and related correspondence are kept for seven years, as required by New Zealand tax law.
Collection and weight data is kept for the life of the account so your reporting history stays intact, and is retained in de-identified form afterwards for benchmarking.
08Your rights
You can ask us at any time to confirm what personal information we hold about you, get a copy of it, and correct anything that is wrong. There is no charge for a reasonable request.
You can ask us to delete information, and we will, unless we are legally required to keep it — for example invoices inside the seven-year tax window.
You can withdraw consent to marketing at any time. We will acknowledge any request within five working days and respond in full within 20 working days.
09Keeping it secure
Access to customer information is limited to the staff who need it. Data in transit is encrypted, accounts require multi-factor authentication, and we review provider security before we adopt a new system.
No system is perfectly secure. If a privacy breach occurs that is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify the affected people and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner as soon as practicable.
10Children
Our services are sold to businesses and building operators. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
11Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our service or the law changes. The current version is always on this page with its effective date. If a change materially affects how we handle customer information, we will email account holders before it takes effect.
